Learn How To improve Singing

The most crucial aspect of good singing is proper breathing. It helps in the development of a good vocal range and improves your stamina. Here are a few exercises that will help you to improve singing.
If you want to increase your vocal range and improve your breath control and stamina following a proper breathing technique is essential. People who breathe through their chest cannot get the really high notes and their voice lacks the floating quality. When we are children, many of us tend to follow faulty breathing habits. These eventually creep into our singing as well.
If you find your chest and shoulders moving when you inhale you are not breathing properly. Most people will not follow deep abdominal breathing for fear of looking fat. Bit if you want to reach the higher notes and sing confidently it is imperative that you breathe through the diaphragm.
It is not uncommon to hear people saying that loud breathing is the correct form of deep breathing. However, your breathing would be noisy only if there is a constriction in the air passage; this would mean you are not breathing properly. The correct way of breathing is to breathe deeply yet silently.
When you inhale it should be done in one smooth fluid motion and not in short gasps. Proper breathing will cause you chest cavity to expand giving more room to the lungs to intake the air. Here are a few exercises which will help you to breathe correctly.
Inhalation Activity:
For this exercise you will need to lie on your back. Inhale deeply feeling the air enter the top part of your lungs and move to the lower end. Feel your chest and diaphragm expanding but make sure to not move your shoulder muscles. It is also important that while breathing deeply your stomach muscles should be relaxed allowing more room for the lungs to expand.
Now once again take a deep cleansing breath feeling the air enter the every corner of your lungs expanding the stomach and the diaphragm. The expansion should be outwards and not upwards. Ideally, the chest, the stomach and the diaphragm should expand. Feel the muscles at the sides of rib cage expand. This is the correct way of breathing for a singer.
Exhalation Exercise:
To start this exercise place a lighted candle a little over 7 inches from your face.
Inhale deeply as you have learnt in the previous exercise expanding your chest and abdomen with no movement of the shoulders.
Feel the air filling your lungs and then breathe out gently in the direction of the flame bending it but not flickering it.
You have to be careful not to extinguish or flicker the flame so you will need to breathe out in a steady stream. While you exhale also try and notice the time for which the flame is kept bent in another words you are trying to find out for how long you can exhale.
If you want to increase your breath control and sing at a high pitch for a long time, these exercises are very beneficial. Particularly if you want to sing the higher notes you should gradually increase the time of exhalation.
